Humble Beginings
How it All Began...
Yes, that is really me...all those years ago.
Always having played with BDSM in my personal life, I never imagined in my
wildest dreams, (which can get pretty darn wild) that places, such as the one I
own now, existed. Even after meeting Mistress Amanda and Her Mother, who had
been a Professional Dominia for fifteen years, at the time, did anyone of us
have the idea of building a literal House of Dominance.
Quite skeptical of leaving a very solid business career and regular paycheck,
Amanda and I began working part time with Her Mother, more out of curiosity
than anything else.
Understand that Amanda's Mother was a very eccentric Lady who conducted
sessions only in harsh spanking and cross dressing. She insisted in working
without a code word and never wore leather. As given as she was to her
eccentricity, Amanda's Mother was the most beautiful and powerful women I have
had the priviledge of knowing.
Funny, at the time, Her sparse collection of wooden paddles, fly swatters and
hair brushes fascinated Me beyond belief. Being as specialized as She was,
there was not a lot of room for the exploration that Amanda and I began to
desire. The more we began to experiment, the more we wanted to go forward with
other avenues of dominance. At the time, having had little to no exposure to
this "new world" I was struggling to understand my own interest in it all. I
began researching Sado Masochism at Ohio State University, as well as reading a
variety of current books on similar subjects.
With the blessing and encouragement of Her Mother, we began working out of my
home and I resigned from the career that I had enjoyed and excelled at for
seven years. At the time, we thought the single set of handcuffs, leather foot
binders, cat o' nine tail, nylon blindfold and clothes pins made us all the
rave! I still have the first outfit I acquired; a skimpy imitation PVC shorts
and halter top. When a submissive wanted to experience an activity that we were
novice to, our answer was most often the same: "We'll try it once. If we don't
like it, we won't do it again." That was the wisest stand we could have taken,
even on activities that made us feel uncomfortable at first because through it,
we learned exactly what we wanted to learn more of and what we had no interest
in.
You do know if you take a frog or cold blooded reptile and place it in a pan of
boiling water, it will jump right out. Yet, if you take that same frog and put
it in a cold pan of water, set on a slow simmer, it will sit there comfortably
and cook itself completely. In a sense, that is exactly what Amanda and I were
doing, moving slowly through comfort zones and expanding our own limitations.
Over the next year we added more and more equipment to our collection, all of
which had to be discreetly tucked into my duffel bag and hidden under in a
remote area of my closet at the end of every day. (It was such an inconvenience
shuffling in and out of that bag!) By this time, we had become aware of leather
scene and longed for more elaborate equipment. This began our search for a
separate location. When we found our location, which we are in now and have
been for over four years, it was more space than we ever imagined we'd actually
use.
Over the years, we have become involved with respected Dominatrixs throughout
the country. We have been featured at the world famous Hell Fire in NYC. Our
studio is often featured in numerous national publications. We've made the
covers quite often.
Every room in our eight room studio has been furnished to its full capacity.
Still, we long for even more. Our cheap beginner toys have been steadily
replaced with the finest equipment one would find in any major dungeon in the
country. We have become incredibly self indulgent in our fetish wardrobes. I
thank God every day that shopping is in my job description.
The transition of becoming a "House," as it is called in New York City as
opposed to being Private Dominas was something that happened before Amanda and
I knew it. The Dominas that work with us are one hundred percent for real.
At times, when I view My studio, I am overwhelmed by how far We have come in
such a short amount of time. What we have created is not an imitation of what
we saw in a magazine or the realization of an in depth business plan. It is
simply who and what we are. It also happens to be one of the coolest places on
earth.
